JOB PURPOSE work as a colleague with classroom teachers to support student learning in all content areas.
The Instructional Support Specialist will focus on individual and group professional development that will expand and refine the understanding of research-based effective instruction.
In order to fulfill these expectations, the Instructional Support Specialist will provide personalized support that is based on the goals and identified needs of individual teachers in support of the school improvement action plan.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Instruction/Education Responsibilities Facilitate the intellectual and processional development of teachers.
Create positive relationships with teachers and administrators.
Communicate and demonstrate research-based instructional practices that result in increased student performance and improved classroom environment.
Communicate effectively with all members of the school district and community.
Encourage professional growth and provide organized, individual and/or group learning opportunities for teachers.
Assist teachers with designing instructional decisions based on assessment data and culturally responsive practices.
Assist teachers in creating materials that are in alignment with curriculum.
Instruct and support teachers with curriculum software products, and classroom/curriculum related technologies.
Provide support in analyzing student assessment data.
Support, implement and assess various instructional programs and program effects on student achievement.
Participates in goal/plan setting and evaluation.
Participates in extracurricular activities to ensure a positive school culture and provide support for students and staff (as required).
Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of curriculum and subject matter.
Assist teachers with specific classroom activities when requested.
Provide support for classroom motivation and management strategies.
Monitor intervention programs and student progress by observing and meeting with teachers.
Develops resources for Tier 2 interventions and provides Tier 2/3 interventions when appropriate.
Participates in building action planning working toward school goals.
Collaborates with building principals and Title 1 staff to conduct needs assessment and plan for and monitor Title 1 programs.
Provide assistance in researching instructional and/or curriculum issues.
Model lessons when appropriate.
Manage time and schedule flexibility that maximizes teacher schedules and learning.
Work positively toward meeting identified district and building improvement goals.
Assist with development of district curriculum, instruction and assessments.
Attend workshops/conferences to learn about new innovative instructional strategies.

Demonstrates proficient experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Student Information System (SIS) and email communications.
Looks for ways to improve and promote quality and demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness.
Strives to implement best practices and positive character education consistently.
JOB REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's degree (BA) from an accredited college or university or equivalent.
Possession of valid teaching certification (as appropriate).
Minimum of one year of successful teaching experience (may include Student Teaching Internship experience).
Equivalent combination of education and experience.
Command of grades/subject specific content and theoretical knowledge of learning theory, including motivation, reinforcement, evaluation and feedback techniques.
Understanding of and commitment to company values.
Successful results of criminal and employment background check.
Effective instructional delivery techniques and excellent communication skills.
Adherence to the requirements of the Code of Ethics for the Education Profession.

WORK ENVIRONMENT While performing the responsibilities of this position, the work environment characteristics listed below are representative of the environment the employee will encounter: Usual office working conditions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS No physical exertion required.
Travel within or outside of state.
Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with CSUSA salary and benefit policy.
Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by Charter Schools USA.
FLSA OVERTIME CATEGORY Job is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
EVALUATION Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Charter Schools USA's policy.
DECLARATION The Charter Schools USA Human Resources Department retains the sole right and discretion to make changes to this job description.
