Essential Tasks:
- Answer multi-line incoming telephone calls systematically and professionally by relaying information on all the departments within the Clerk's Office.
- Provide accurate and professional service to the general public and other government agencies on the telephone by answering questions, performing searches, providing information, referring to appropriate agencies for assistance and various other duties as necessary, all without giving legal advice.
- Listen earnestly and provide quality customer service by using both civil and criminal applications and strive to meet the customer's expectations.
Furnish assistance in an understanding and compassionate manner.
- Perform data entry to give extensions on Traffic fines.
- Assist customers with Traffic payments over the phone.
- Research cases using a computer, which includes all applications involved with all the departments within the Clerk's Office.
- Assist jurors with questions and updating the system for postponement requests.
- Being able to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
- Perform other assigned tasks as required.
Minimum Skills/Qualifications:
- Complies with Clerk Policies, Departmental Guidelines and Mission Statement.
- Technically proficient in computer and technical skills required to perform this position.
- Ability to effectively correspond to customers in writing/emails using proper form and correct spelling.
- High School diploma or (General Education Diploma) GED Significant history of related job responsibilities may be considered in lieu of minimum educational requirements.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively to customers or employees of the organization.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to communicate well with people from varied backgrounds.
- Ability to research resource materials.
- Ability to accurately type 30 WPM.
- Ability to maintain attention to detail and to remain calm in an anxious, intense environment.
- Ability to operate a PC and/or mainframe based systems.
- Ability to remain flexible as conditions change and continue effective performance in the face of additional challenges.
- Knowledge of Florida statutes, Civil Rules of Procedures and Administrative Orders is helpful.
- This position requires a six month training period for new employees.
- Being bi-lingual is highly preferred.
