two budgies, one male & one female.
bonded/breeding pair, i’ve had them for two years and they step up and hang out with you.
they are shy at first and like all small birds of prey get scared with loud noises.
the male is a little more friendly than the female, but both step up and have never actually bit hard enough to draw blood or cause serious injury.
i wouldn’t suggest them as a gift for small children as they do require gentle handling and patience.
i’ve only ever had to trim their wings once and since then they’ve grown back perfectly fine and they are flying normally again.
if preferred i can trim both nails, beak and wings before pick up so there isn’t accidental harm to them if attempted by yourself.
it does not harm the birds when done properly.
a few reasons people may prefer to have them trimmed; (wings) since it is a new environment if they’re let out of the cage they can’t fly out the door etc.
(beak) usually trimmed/filed down so it isn’t as sharp and in case they do bite when handling it doesn’t cause serious harm.
also if they’re beak grows too long due to lack of natural filing it can be uncomfortable for the bird or even harm them, lastly (nails) should be maintained with all birds to prevent discomfort or foot injury when perched.
despite popular belief these small birds can be taught to speak (yes, words not just whistles lol) with patience and training, it can take more time with them since they aren’t the most docile species, but it can be done!
they are very intelligent and environment sensitive which is why i’ve taken so much time to explain as much as i could just by ad alone, i want them to have a loving home since i’ve grown so close to them.
